What it’s about

The goal: a transition that matches each child’s potential.

With the aim of supporting equal opportunities in the transition to lower secondary school, Verein Lernturbo launched Fit für die Sek in 2012. It works at the interface between primary and secondary school and prepares pupils from 5th grade for the move to lower secondary level.

Alongside intensive supplementary training, the project offers out-of-school cultural activities, exciting outings and parent collaboration. Fit für die Sek is scientifically monitored and evaluated – we use the findings to develop the programme further.

The programme

Four building blocks, one goal

  • Children solving maths tasks on worksheets outdoors

    German & maths

Deepening German and mathematics – every Saturday morning, guided by future teachers.

  • Two pupils preparing baked goods together and working out the quantities

    Learning strategies

The right working and learning techniques help reduce pressure to perform and focus on what matters.

  • Children marvelling at an experiment at the Technorama Winterthur

    Culture & outings

Out-of-school activities playfully broaden general knowledge – from the Technorama to the theatre.

  • Home-baked rolls for the parents’ brunch

    Stronger together

Four parent events over two years strengthen collaboration with families.

  3. Two training years

Every Saturday morning: German, maths, learning strategies and individual learning – complemented by outings, cultural activities and four parent events.

The goal: making the transition to lower secondary school in line with one’s own potential.
